Amatuni – princely family of Armenian origin. In the 1784 charter of the Georgian king Irakli II their ancestor is named prince Vagan Amatuni, under king Khosrov II the savior of Eastern Armenia, whose son was the savior Vagan II. His descendant George left a son Azarbek, who with his sons George and Vagan served the Iranian shah and was the melik of Nakhchivan. Their sons and grandsons, the descendant of Peter Azaryan Amatuni moved to Tbilisi.
